The Nagas were feared by many, but also revered and appreciated for their unique skills and qualities, not only in the fields of genetics and technology but also in architectural style. The word Nagara is connected undoubtedly to Naga. The Nagara Style in architecture cannot be originated by the town Nagara, but rather, has its roots in the Naga kings like Nagara Brahmans of the Ganges Valley and Nagara Jats of Ahichchhatra. The base of Nagara is thus Nag, and it opposes to the Vesara Style in that of the latter is more rich in ornamental elements (leaves, flowers, plants, etc). The Nagara Style can be found in the Gupta Square temples and in the Vakataka Temple of Parvati at Nachna, as well as in the Bharsiva Temple of Bhumra.

The Nagas Kingdom

The well is kept hidden and closely guarded, and its access is forbidden to most people, unless deemed worthy by the keepers of the Nagas secret. The well is in fact the entrance (or, one of the entrances? In Tibet there is a mystical shrine called Patala which sits atop of an ancient system of tunnels and caves leading to the underground world.) of the Netherworld where the Reptilians dwell; in particular, the Sheshna's Well would lead to the Patala Kingdom, one of the subterranean realms of the Nagas race. It was here, according to the legend, that one of the founders of Yoga, Patanjali, channeled his famous aphorisms of yoga. Every 3 years the well’s water is drained and re-filled with new water. In his book Venomous Reptiles (1969) herpetologist and author Sherman A. Minton, an expert in reptilian and amphibian biology, makes some interesting statement that support the theory of Reptilian evolution, and their link to the time of dinosaurs. After determining the common traits to all reptiles (having scales, cold blood, lay eggs,) he then goes about to differentiate: all reptiles with limbs have clawed toes; there are lizards with elongated snake-like bodies, which accounts for a “missing link” type between lizards and snakes (since these species exist, I would say the link is not missing, but it is evidence). Modern scientific evidence indicates that all snakes once possessed limbs, which atrophied after prolonged non-use. This happened over time, as snakes became both aquatic and land creatures; and reptiles with limbs usually live underground.

The Great Lake of Nagas

The location of Lake Manasarowar and Mount Kailash could well be one of the portals to the Inner World of Central Asia, and to the inner realms of Agharta and Shamballah. This is in our opinion the esoteric meaning of the “two sides of the coin” mentioned in Bons beliefs. Geographically, the river Manasarowar is the source of four great rivers: Senge Khabab (Indus River), Tachog Khabab (Brahmaputra River), Langchen Khabab (Sutlej River), and Maja Khabab (Karnali River), which cover half of the world. It is believed that before the continent separated, these rivers covered the entire landmass of Pangea. Lake Manasanowar has a deep connection with the Nagas, creatures who occupy one of the 3 worlds, the underworld, although these worlds should be seen as parallel or intertwined, some points converging, others diverging. The first world or “The World Above” is Lha Yul, the dwelling of the gods; Me Yul is “The Human World” or the world in the middle; and Klu Yul is “The Nagas World” or the world below. Even in the Tibetan lore the Reptilian beings are known to be a solid presence in the distribution of life in our portion of the Multiverse.

The Nagas In The Rig Veda

The Rig Veda offer also a detailed description of Vritra, who was a sworn enemy of Indra who ultimately killed him. Vritra was also called Dasyu, Dasa, Asura and Ahi in the sacred texts. The greatest Ahi in the Vedic poems was Vritra Sarpa (Vritra the serpent) who could block river waters. In the Atharva-Veda and later in Brahmanical literature “Ahi” is also mentioned along with Vritra. “Ahi” became later a title for the Nagas kings as well as a term to indicate a serpent. There is enormous evidence in Sanskrit scripture to support this: the Amarkosha (first kanda) has a list of serpents including “Ahi”. In the Hindi dictionary of Nalanda the meaning of “Ahi” is serpent and Vritrasur. In the Sanskrit dictionary of Apte, “Ahi” indicates the serpent boa. In the Rig Veda (VII-50-1 to 3) “Ahi” is attached to a dangerous serpent. In the Uttar Pradesh region the cultural center in medieval period was Ahichchhattra or “Centre of the Nagas rule” which was situated in the district of Barrielly. Ahichchhattra was also the capital of the Nagas kings.

From the Indus Valley to Sumeria

The presence of serpents in the Indus Valley indicates that the Nagas were a symbol of authority in the Harappan area, or in general a powerful presence among gods and men. The tradition of the Serpent cult therefore must have originated in the very beginning of the Hindu civilization, and it is strongly related to the myths of ancient Babylonia, that is, with the chronicles of the Anunnaki. A fourth seal corroborates this link. The figure carved on this cylinder found in Babylonia shows the tradition of the tree and the serpent in ancient Sumeria, and its later establishment in the Indus Valley following the relentless fight between the Aryans and the Reptilians.

The small settlement of Athens was increasing in size and wealth, Athena and Poseidon both desired to rule Athens. Athena and Poseidon had a stormy relationship at best. At Olympus, the home of the Greek gods at the top of the highest mountain on Earth, arguments often broke out between Athena and Poseidon. Athena, being the mighty war goddess, would show no mercy for Poseidon and often brutally attacked him, he would flee to the sea. Athens became the battleground between Athena and Poseidon, both very great and powerful Greek divinities.

The Nagas and The Aryans

It appears clear from the information thus far collected (see previous articles,) that the Nagas and the Aryan races were engaged in fierce battles for territory supremacy over quite a long period of time. This is consistent with the chronicles from other ancient cultures which mentioned the “White Gods” defeating the “Serpent Race”. The Old Testament, whose origins are found in the areas North of Mesopotamia, follows the same narrative, and became the basic principles in Christian lore. Such a long conflict between the two races produced also some mixing in genetic, literary, and conceptual fields of India. The Mahabharata speaks of Naga Nahusha as a king also in the Lunar Dynasty of Aryan kings, for example. Or, a king named Riksha of the Puru race (a branch of the Lunar Dynasty) married the daughter of a Naga of the Takshaka race.

The Nagas of Kashmir

In Hindu religion there is a festival called Naga Panchami dedicated to the Nagas. The five Nagas worshiped during this festival are Ananta, Vasuki, Taxak, Karkotaka, and Pingala. According to a Puranic myth, Brahma’s son Kashyapa had 4 wives. His first wife gave birth to Devas, the second to Garudas, the third to Nagas and the fourth to Daityas. Kashyapa’s third wife was called Kadroo, so the Naga race is also known as Kadrooja. They were the rulers of Patal-Loka, and there is a Sanskrit shloka to remember the most important nine Nagas. The Mahabharata epic begins with the history of Nagas, in astonishing details, along the initial chapters of the first book (Adi Parva). These chapters were collected into 3 sub-volumes called Paushya, Pauloma and Astika. The names of the principal Nagas killed by Janamejaya and known for their achievements belonged to different Nagas races (Mbh 1,57), such as the Takshaka race, the Kauravya race, and the Dhrutarashtra race. Furthermore, to other races that were not Nagas but closely related to them, were the Pannagas and Uragas. Overall, all the races mentioned in the Mahabharata epic (Yakshas, Rakshasas, Gandharvas, Pisachas and Danavas) were aware of the history of Arya kings.
